Ranch Horse Team

Clarendon College is the first Junior College in the state of Texas to have a Ranch Horse Team. The Ranch Horse Team is dedicated to promoting Clarendon College and Agriculture through competitions in Ranch and Stock Horse events. The Team competes in Trail, Western Pleasure, Reining, and Working Cowhorse. While representing Clarendon College at Ranch and Stock Horse events throughout the state of Texas, the Team also promotes a deep ranching tradition from the Texas Panhandle.

As a member of the Ranch Horse Team students learn positive horsemanship skills from the coach and various other equine professionals that visit practices during the year. These skills will then be put to the test at events against other schools such as Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tarleton State, NCTJC, SFAU, and others at competitions held in Vernon, Amarillo, Abilene , Fort Worth,  Lubbock, and Austin to name a few. The Team also hosts several events throughout the year (ranch sortings, ranch horse competitions, team ropings, barrel racings, bull ridings, cuttings, horsemanship clinics, livestock judgings etc.) here on campus at our magnificent facility the Livestock and Equine Center. This facility boasts 82 covered horse stalls an indoor and outdoor arena and livestock pens.
