The Clarendon College Meats team won the Southwest International Invitational contest hosted in Lubbock and Amarillo this weekend.
Clarendon College finished in first place with 3,598 points, followed by Garden City Community College with 3,418 in second; the Australian National Team with 3,202 in third; Western Texas College with 3,158 in fourth; and Cisco College with 3,150 in fifth place.
Individually, Clarendon College finished with 6 of the top 10 spots.
Mario Olivo from Hondo, TX, finished in first place with 933 points; Kenna Faulkenberry, of Stephenville, TX, placed second with 929 points; Dustin Jones from Hondo, TX, placed third with 913 points; Talen Crist, from Forth Sumner, NM, placed fourth with 911 points; Lauren Rush from League City, TX, placed fifth with 904 points; and Jess Nighswonger of Keenesburg, CO, placed tenth with 859 points.
The team will next head to the National Western Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest in Greeley, CO, on January 18.
